Photography lighting help?

Can someone please tell me how strobes work in studio photography. Really I want to learn basic setup studio lighting, but I'm totally clueless about this issue. What are these lights connected an umbrella or light boxes? are the lights to illuminate the subject or who also work as a flash? need u To use the flash when using the lights? Im watching videos of photography study and I am very confused when the flash is coming, I mean, where do u position the flash? I see radio transmitter connected to the camera to fire the flash, but I can not find where the flash is coming. Correct me if im wrong, but I think the flash is coming from an umbrella or soft box, but how does that work? Is there a separate Flash and separate the light to illuminate the subject in a single electronic flash unit? I am very confused, I really appreciate the help, thanks!

Studio lights can be of two types – so-called "hot" lights are lit continuously, or studio strobes are flashes that come out only when you press the shutter. Strobes often have a modeling light is a light that is lit all the time (except when the flash goes off), so that the photographer can see where the light is falling and the position of your lights accordingly to obtain the desired result. You can also use hot shoe flashes camera ', as strobe lights work study or outdoor location. These are smaller and less powerful than a studio strobe, but are smaller and lighter. All types of light (continuous light and flash) can be modified to allow the photographer to direct the light. Light Modifiers spread and soften the light more things like umbrellas and light boxes. They are usually mounted in the front of the flash head to light the fires through them and actually makes the larger light source compared to the model – which produces a soft light and soft or no shadows. A Snoot is a switch that makes the effect contrary – a tube placed in front of a flash head that limits the propagation of light. This produces a small intense light source, with little diffusion light and produces hard, angular shadows – good for low key lighting nervous, moody. The lights can be fired from the camera using a cable connection (a sync cable) or wirelessly using optical or radio active. I strongly recommend you take a look at the site of David Hobby's Strobist (start with lighting 101) http://strobist.blogspot.com/ Its geared towards using off camera flash shoe, but the principles apply the same light as to whether you are using studio strobes, flashes or continuous light shoe. Hot Shoe Diaries is good too, but only on Nikon shoe flashes (flashes). Edit Link impractical; lightmodifiers http://www.bron.ch/vt_pd_lg_sc_en/index.php show the differences make a model (the product from Bron, but obviously the same applies to all types). Soloflex is his version of a light box, the rest should be self-explanatory, or you can search their catalog to test prodcut what everyone seems.
